 Community Scholarships - 2013

 

ARTS & EDUCATION BOOSTER CLUB OF CARLE PLACE:
 An award of $250 based on an essay.
 
THE BARTHOLOMEW J. RECAME, SR. FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP: An Award of $750 to a senior who has overcome a personal or physical adversity and/or comes from a single parent family.  The student has been active in community service and has maintained a GPA of 80% or higher and will be attending a 2 or 4 year college.  Financial need will be considered.
 
CARLE PLACE ATHLETIC BOOSTER CLUB GERARD F. O'CONNOR MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:   At least one $1,000 award to a senior who played at least one varsity sport in the senior year.
 
CARLE PLACE CIVIC ASSOCIATION - COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD:   An award of $500 to a civic-minded graduating senior who has provided outstanding service either to the community or to the school.
 
Carle Place Class of 1962 - A $1,000 scholarship for a student who plans to major in the field of education and enter the teaching profession.
 
CARLE PLACE EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION - FRED HICKS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: A $1,000.00 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who has demonstrated a committment to volunteer activities, academics, and plans to attend a college or university after high school.
 
CARLE PLACE EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION - NEIL J. CONNOLLY RECOGNITION AWARD:  A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who has demonstrated a committment to volunteer activities, academics, and plans to attend a college or university after high school.  Financial need will be considered.
 
CARLE PLACE HIGH SCHOOL PTSA SCHOLARSHIP: An award of undetermined amount to a senior who is a current member of the PTSA and has demonstrated a commitment to improving his/her community.
 
CARLE PLACE HIGH SCHOOL SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP:   An award of undetermined amount is given to a senior with a 90 average or better in Spanish this year. Consideration will be given to integrity, honor, responsibility, citizenship, interest and cooperation.  A 200 word essay in Spanish is required.
 
CARLE PLACE HOOK, LADDER & HOSE CO., NO. 1 (Fire Department) SCHOLARSHIP:    Two or more awards of at least $500.00 each to graduating seniors who plan to continue their education.
 
CARLE PLACE TEACHERS' ASSOCIATION - CIRO MATARAZZO MEMORIAL AWARD:   An award of $1,000.00 to a student who has made contributions to the community and plans to continue to do so.
 
CARLE PLACE TEACHERS' ASSOCIATION - DONALD LA BOMBARD SCHOLARSHIP:   An award of $1,000.00 to a member of the senior class who plans to enter the field of education.
 
CARLE PLACE TEACHERS' ASSOCIATION - J. HANK PARIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARD:   An award of $1,000.00 to a member of the senior class who plans to attend college.
 
Eugene V. Timpano Memorial Music Scholarship: An award of $750 to a senior who has participated in three or more performing arts groups and has participated in a school musical.
 
GIGI LIONE LISECKI SCHOLARSHIP AWARD:   An award of $1,500 to a senior who intends to enter the health care field.
 
HARRIS SCHWARTZ MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR CREATIVITY:   An award of $500 to a senior based on a creative endeavor.  Categories for submission are limited  to photography, video/film, short story, art, musical piece or prose.
 
JEANINE D'ONOFRIO SPENSIERI MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:  An award of $1,000 to a senior who will be pursuing the study of music at the college level.
 
JENNIFER DINTINO SCHOLARSHIP AWARD:   An award of $250 to a senior who, at some point in his/her educational career, was a student of English as a Second Language.
 
MARIE GRACE BELLO SCHOLARSHIP:   An award of $500 to a senior who is a special education or former special education student.
 
MARY & JOHN FIORILLO SCHOLARSHIP:   A $500 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who has demonstrated a commitment to volunteer activities, academics, and plans to attend a college or university after high school.
 
MICHAEL A. SKLOW & ROBERT VIGLIONE SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION:   A $500.00 award to a senior who demonstrates by past record or future commitment that they are dedicated to the notion that the protection of individual freedom and the liberty to pursue ones own life are the noblest ends of a civilized society.  To obtain this application, please go directly to the website: www.viglow.org
 
REINHOLD & HELENE ZEUSCNER SCHOLARSHIP AWARD:  An award of $500 to a senior who, at some point in his/her educational career, was a student of English as a Second Language.
 
RUSHMORE'S FUTURE TEACHERS SCHOLARSHIP:  A $300 scholarship to a senior who attended Rushmore School and plans to enter the field of education.
 
CARLE PLACE SCHOLARSHIP: Multiple awards given to students from the class of 2013.  Interview required.
