American Legion Summer Program - Honorees |

Seven of our students have been nominated for the Boys State or Girls State Summer Program. This is a one week experience sponsored by the American Legion where students learn about goverment and our Constitution. These students will be interviewed by members of the American Legion and one boy and one girl will be chosen to participate. CARLE PLACE HIGH SCHOOL -ONE OF AMERICA'S BEST |

Carle Place Middle Senior High School has received a silver medal in US News And World Report’s second annual list of America's Best High Schools.
• Carle place High School was one of only 8 Long Island high schools selected for award recognition among over 21,000 public high schools throughout the nation.
• Carle Place High School was one of only 48 New York State high schools to receive a gold or silver medal using data from the 2006-2007 school year.
• Carle Place High School ranked in the top 3% of public high schools in the nation.
• The two main criteria for selection were the participation rate of students (number of students) taking advanced placement or international baccalaureate tests (25% of rating) and the quality-adjusted participation rate (75% of rating) which was equated by dividing the number of seniors who took an AP exam during their high school career and received a grade of 3 or higher by the number of students in the senior class. |

CP High School Competes in the LI Challenge |
Carle Place High School recently competed in the News Channel 12 " The Challenge". The team included Brian Deignan, Matt Grieco, Richard Huang, Jamie Martines and alternate Tara Moore. The competition was held in New York City on November 12 against Valley Stream North High School. It was a very competitive match which actually ended in a tie. The deciding question was answered correctly by Valley Stream. |

Smart Music Comes to Carle Place |

Grade 3-12 students and teachers at Carle Place begin using a new and innovative Internet driven program called Smart Music that allows students to practice their music lessons while logged in online. Music teachers set up lessons and practice activities for students and post online. With a microphone attached to the computer, students record their lessons in school or at home getting visual feedback as they play. They can replay their session and hear and see their music as the notes appear on the computer screen making practice much more fun and effective. |

Toshiba Laptops Take MS Students to New Heights In Using Technology |

September 2008
The Middle School is more active than ever with the installation of the new wireless network and availabiity of a mobile cart of Toshiba Laptops. Teachers and students lost no time in signing out the laptops purchased through the District Technology Plan. Classes are researching social studies issues, practicing mathematics , and participating in numerous creative and innovative lessons make learning more effective while mastering important 21st Century Skills in their classrooms. |

National Academic Scholarship Award - Elijah Moore |

Elijah A. Moore, a junior at Carle Place High School has been recognized by the National Achievement Scholarship Program. This program honors academically able Black American high school students and provides scholarships. Qualification for this recognition is baced on their 2007 PSAT/NMSQT exam scores. 2005 Graduate Makes Olympic Team |
Steven Serio, Class of 2005, has been selected to participate on the USA Olympics Wheelchair Basketball Team which will take place in Beijing, China in September, 2008. Mr. Connolly and all of the Carle Place Community sends their best wishes. Go for the Gold Steven! |
