Welcome Back! I hope you and your family had an enjoyable holiday season.
I would like to remind you that there are only three weeks left in the second quarter before midterms begin. The midterm/Regents/RCT exams will take place from January 24-27, 2012. You will be receiving a copy of the midterm schedule in the near future.
Please encourage your child to attend extra help on a regular basis in order that they may reach their academic potential. In addition, the MS/HS library will be open on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. until mid-term week. A few of our honor Society students will be available in the evening to help your child.
Please be advised that this will be the last edition of my Newsletter that will be mailed home. All future editions will be sent home via e-mail and will also be available on the Carle Place website.

LEANNE IANNUCCI - CITIBANK/NEWS 12
SCHOLAR ATHLETE
Leanne Iannucci has been selected as our twenty-second Citibank/News 12 Scholar Athlete.
Leanne is currently ranked 1st in her class of 123 students with a 102.83 weighted average. Leanne is president of the Mathematics Honor Society and French Honor Society and is also a member of the National Honor Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society. In her junior year, Leanne received the Rennselear Medal/ Scholarship for Academic Excellence, Dartmouth College Book Award and U.S. Army Reserve National Scholar Athlete Award.
Leanne is a three-sport athlete in softball, field hockey and bowling. She has been selected All-County in bowling, All Conference in Field Hockey and All-County, All-Long Island and All-State in softball. In addition, she is a three-year captain of the Varsity Softball Team, captain of the Varsity Bowling Team and captain of the Varsity Field Hockey Team.
She is a member of our Marching Band, Mathletes, SADD and Crossroads.
Leanne will be attending Cornell University in September 2012. Congratulations Leanne Iannucci, our twenty-second Citibank/News 12 Scholar Athlete.

NEWSWEEK'S AMERICA'S BEST HIGH SCHOOLS - 2011
I am proud to inform you that Carle Place High School has been selected as one of Newsweek's America's Best High Schools for 2011.
Newsweek examined the accomplishments of the Class of 2010 using the following criteria: graduation rate, college matriculation, AP tests taken per graduate, AP courses offered, average SAT/ACT scores and average AP/IB scores.
Carle Place High School was ranked in the top
1% of all public high schools in the nation. This is our highest Newsweek ranking in the seven-year history of this study supplanting the outstanding accomplishments of the Class of 2006.
Over this seven-year period, Carle Place High School has been ranked in the top 3% of all public high schools throughout the country.
