You are about to continue your journey into the language and culture of the Spanish-speaking world. In my classroom, you will become better acquainted with new cities, countries and the personalities who have put those places “on the map”.  You can become one of the 300 million people who are Spanish speakers, and as one of them, you will find that knowledge of another language will open the doors to new careers, rewarding experiences and exciting adventures. As the global economy expands, within our own city or in the 19 Spanish-speaking countries and Puerto Rico, the 21^st century holds opportunities beyond your wildest dreams! Tips to Improve your Learning

v Communicate in Spanish as often as you can. Keep adding new words and phrases to those you already know. Have fun with the language.

v Turn on a Spanish station on your radio or TV. Listen to music. If you don’t understand every word, that’s okay –get into the rhythm.

v Remember, you learned a lot of Spanish last year. What worked best for you then, will probably work for you again. Some people learn a language by watching for clues when others speak. Some make a mental note when they hear familiar words. Some learn by teaching others what they know –like a friend or a member of the family. Share your study habits with your classmates; you may pick up a few tips. Take charge of your own learning. Stay positive!

Lastly, I’m here to help you succeed. But my desire for your success is not enough. You need to want it enough to make whatever changes are necessary to reach your goal. I will always be here to support your efforts. Use me -for I am your teacher, but I also want to be your mentor and your motivator.
